1inchginger rootmore or less to taste, peeled and thinly sliced
1inchfresh turmeric rootif you are not used to turmeric, start with a smaller piece first and see how you like it, peeled and thinly sliced
1black tea bagEarl Grey or rooibos is good too
Maple syrup or other sweetener to taste
Hot water for brewing
Squeeze the lemon into the cup and add in the ginger and turmeric slices. You may want to lightly crush them if you like to extract more juice.
Pour in the hot water to fill the cup.
Dunk in the tea bag but do not drop it into the cup (unless you are using a very weak tea). Swirl it around a few time until the tea picks up a golden amber colour. Lightly squeeze the tea bag, then remove. (If there is still enough tea concentration in there, you can keep it for a second cup).
